Pia Covid-19 Statement

March 25, 2020

As the country enters a new phase of the COVID-19 outbreak, Pia has issued the below statement on the measures being taken to combat the risk of spreading the illness while keeping supply chains fully operational.

Official COVID-19 advice

COVID-19, or novel Coronavirus Disease 2019, is a new illness that can affect an individual’s lungs and airways. The symptoms of COVID-19 are a high temperature and a new and persistent cough. For official guidance on the illness, Pia urges everyone to read the NHS/Coronavirus and coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response links – both pages are live updated throughout the day with official information and guidance.

Due to the situation in the UK escalating, Pia believes it is necessary to communicate with its customers the actions it is taking to reduce the spread of COVID-19 while continuing to supply our customers.

Pia HQ

All non-essential visits to Pia have been postponed indefinitely to reduce the risk of spreading the illness, as per government advice. Pia staff will also not be travelling on business trips for the foreseeable future.

Pia has been identified as a Critical Supplier so continues to offer full services, however most functions are being completed by remote working. In the offices, there remain essential duties to take place. To mitigate the risk in this circumstance, Pia staff are following all of the guidelines regarding social distancing and handwashing.

Reviewing advice daily

During this unprecedented situation for the nation, Pia is taking all appropriate actions to mitigate the risk of spreading the virus while still supplying braille, large print and audio transcriptions to its customers.

The situation is changing daily, and Pia is meticulously monitoring and reviewing the guidance and procedures throughout each working day so that it can be prepared and proactive in its response.

We hope that everyone remains safe and well as the situation develops.

Transparent communication between all actors in the supply chain is the key to ensuring customer orders are met. Contact Pia on 01633 488000 or post@pia.co.uk to talk to a member of the team directly.
